Ponte Sisto and Ponte Garibaldi are two of Rome’s oldest bridges. Ponte Sisto, a single-span stone bridge, was built in 1479 and is one of the oldest bridges in Rome. It was designed by architect Donato Bramante and is lined with statues and monuments. Ponte Garibaldi, also known as Ponte Gilli, is an 18th century iron suspension bridge built in 1846. It offers lovely views of the city. Both bridges are a great way to explore the city and take in its beauty. As you cross over them, you can see iconic landmarks such as Castel Sant’Angelo and St. Peter’s Basilica. From the top of Ponte Sisto you can also see the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument and the Torre dei Conti. Both bridges are popular with locals and a great way to get to explore the city.
