Ponte Luís I is a double-deck iron arch bridge located in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. It connects the city of Porto to the south bank of the Douro River. Built from 1881 to 1886 by Belgian engineer Théophile Seyrig, the bridge has a length of 272 metres and a weight of more than 6000 tons. At the top of the bridge, statues of Saint Anthony and King Luis I (for whom the bridge is named after) can be seen. The bridge offers spectacular views of the Porto skyline and the Douro. From its centre, the bridge offers great views over Vila Nova de Gaia's historic riverside port cellars and the city centre. Due to its location, the walkway leading to Ponte Luís I is a popular spot for photographic sightseeing and sunset watching.
