Ponte de Rande is an iconic bridge located in Santradán, Spain that offers spectacular views of lush river valleys and nearby hillsides. Once a simple stone bridge, the 250-year-old structure—which was entirely destroyed by French troops after the Peninsular War and then rebuilt around 1843—is now adorned with stunning columns and two stunning arched entrances on either side. The bridge stands 60 feet tall, with a span width of over 120 feet. Spanning the Minho River, it serves as a major connection between Spain and Portugal, as well as a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can climb to the top of Ponte de Rande for a bird’s eye view of the area’s rolling hills and lush, green meadows. On either side of the bridge lie stunning 15th-century castles known as Ponte de Concepción de église and Ponte de Concepción de San Juan. Both of these castles offer great photo opportunities and an interesting glimpse into the area’s past.
