Pont Saint-Bénezet, also known as Le Pont d'Avignon, is a historic medieval bridge in Avignon, France. Constructed in the 12th century, it originally spanned the Rhône River with 22 arches, but only 4 remain today, creating a striking, incomplete arching silhouette that's ideal for photography, especially during sunset when the lighting enhances its ancient stone structure. The bridge provides a unique vantage point for capturing the famous Palais des Papes, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which looms majestically in the background. Early morning or late afternoon visits afford the best light for photos, and fewer tourists provide unobstructed views.
