Pont Neuf, ironically named “New Bridge,” is the oldest standing bridge in Paris. Built between 1578 and 1607 under King Henry IV, it arches gracefully over the Seine, connecting the Right Bank, the Left Bank, and the western tip of the Île de la Cité. Stop by Square du Vert-Galant on the island’s tip for scenic river views, or explore the nearby Sainte-Chapelle and Notre-Dame Cathedral. The bridge itself offers charming stone benches, decorative masks called “mascarons,” and a romantic atmosphere by day or night, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or photo opportunity.
