Pont du Gard is a remarkable three-tiered Roman aqueduct located in Vers-Pont-du-Gard, France. It is the highest Roman aqueduct bridge in the world and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The aqueduct was built in the first century AD and was part of a 50km long waterway which provided water to the towns of Nîmes and Uzès.

The aqueduct spans the 60m wide Gardon River and is made up of three tiers of stone arches, with the max height of the structure reaching almost 50m. It is a sight to behold and is surrounded by lush green nature and the clear waters of the river. It is popular for picnics and recreation as well as for sightseeing and learning about the Roman aqueducts. There are spots to explore along the structure’s walkways and even a museum featuring displays about the history of the aqueduct.
