Pont d’Mar is the low seafront bridge that anchors Altafulla’s coastal promenade, where townscape meets the Mediterranean on Catalonia’s Costa Daurada. Visually it frames the transition from golden beach and fishermen’s boats to the compact, ochreed houses of the old town, offering a layered composition of sand, water and masonry. Textures are distinct: salt-bleached stone, wrought-iron railings and wave-polished concrete catch directional light from the sea, producing strong reflections at high tide and long shadows at low sun. Photographically, siting the bridge slightly off-center emphasizes the town’s skyline behind it and the horizontal strata of sand, water and sky; the structure is readily reached from the promenade and is part of normal public access.
