Pont del Bisbe spans Carrer del Bisbe in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, linking the Palau de la Generalitat with the Casa dels Canonges near the cathedral. Despite its medieval appearance, the ornate neo-Gothic bridge was designed by Joan Rubió i Bellver and completed in 1928. Its pointed arch, carved stonework and delicate tracery create one of the quarter’s most recognizable street scenes, especially when viewed along the narrow lane, where the surrounding façades frame it tightly. Look beneath the bridge for its enigmatic skull pierced by a dagger, a small sculptural detail that contrasts with the refined ornament above. Soft light emphasizes the stone textures, while the passage below provides a strong sense of scale and everyday city life.
