Pont de Dumnacus is a perfect spot for anyone looking for a quiet burst of natural beauty in the Loire Valley, France. A 16th century bridge, built of stone and magnificently crafted, spans the tranquil waters of La Loire. Visitors can easily access it as in Les Ponts-de-Cé, a few kilometres southeast of Angers. Located in the forest of Blaise, the bridge creates a pleasing silhouette, particularly impressive during the golden hour. Originally, the bridge served to facilitate the transportation of goods over the Loire and across the Angers-Durtault railway line nearby, but now the site is better traversed by foot. The perimeter is home to a variety of wildlife such as deer and fox, and with luck visitors can also spot rare species such as badger, otter, and birds of prey. Exploring the banks of the Loire, as well as its manicured forest paths, provides many opportunities for nature photography. An ancient, mossy chapel nearby is an interesting historical find as well.
