Pont au Change
📍 From Pont Notre Dame, France
Pont au Change in Paris is a picturesque bridge that crosses over the River Seine. Built in 1183, it served as a toll bridge employed by King Louis IX. He charged a fee to cross the bridge that was used as protection from the often turbulent waters below. It has been rebuilt twice since its construction, in 1378 and 1515 respectively. It is best known for ancient decapitation convicts, who were taken here for decapitation. It is now a popular destination for visitors and photographers alike, who take in its old world charm. Visitors can enjoy great views of the river, nearby Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre and its surrounding landscape. It makes a great place to have an enjoyable stroll or enjoy a picnic. Be sure to bring your camera so that you don’t miss out on capturing any of its amazing sights.
