Point Bonita Lighthouse
📍 From Bridge, United States
Point Bonita Lighthouse is located on a dramatic rock headland at the Marin County end of the Golden Gate Bridge in the Tamalpais-Homestead Valley. It offers spectacular views of the surroundings, including the surrounding beaches and hills, Marin Headlands and the Farallon Islands off the coast. The lighthouse’s original Fresnel lens has been in continuous use since 1856, and visitors can explore its old one-room building and surrounding grounds. Public access is only through a half-mile walk over a rugged trail along a rocky bluff, making it a great hike for those who like a bit of adventure. The surroundings are rich with plant life, and it's a great spot for wildflower viewing in spring and summer. A highlight of any visit is the dramatic sight of the ocean crashing on the rocks at the base of the lighthouse.
