Point Arena's Lighthouse and Museum
📍 From Cliff, United States
Point Arena's Lighthouse and Museum is a great place to explore the history of this beautiful area in Manchester, United States. Built in 1870, Point Arena's red and white striped lighthouse is the tallest lighthouse on the U.S. West Coast, standing 115 feet high. The original Fresnel lens of the lighthouse is still in operation, and you can climb up the 115 steps to reach the top of the tower, providing spectacular 360-degree views of the ocean and surrounding countryside. The museum on the site tells the history of local lighthouse keepers, including their harrowing tales of rescuing ships off the coast. You can explore the nearby cemetery, where many of the crew members are buried, and the old keeper cottage, which was restored in 2008. There is also a gift shop and picnic area where you can relax after your visit. Point Arena's Lighthouse and Museum is open daily and offers guided tours of the grounds upon request.
