The Plaza de Toros de Melilla is a mid-20th-century bullring in Spain’s autonomous North African city, a striking expression of Spanish civic tradition beside the Moroccan border. Popularly known as the “Mezquita del Toreo,” or Mosque of Bullfighting, it combines the monumental circular form of a classic arena with Neo-Mudéjar-inspired arches, domed elements, and contrasting pale and ochre surfaces. Its repeating arcades and curved façade create strong patterns of light and shadow, while wider views emphasize the building’s scale and its unusual place within Melilla’s urban landscape.
