Plaza de España, located in the Maria Luisa Park in Sevilla, is an impressive semi-circular square lined with colourful tiles, lush gardens and beautifully decorated bridges arching over a shallow central lake. It is one of the city's best-known landmarks, built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. The square is elaborately decorated with ornate towers, hand-crafted glazed tiles, sculptures, and a central fountain. Around the perimeter of the lake, there are many alcove-like seating areas under smaller archways which make Plaza de España a great place to relax and people-watch. This magnificent square is a great tourist attraction and a popular spot for photo taking and film making.
