Playa Porto Mari lies on Curaçao’s sheltered western coast, in the rural Bandabou area west of Willemstad. The beach is known for pale sand, clear turquoise water and a distinctive double reef: two coral formations separated by a sandy channel, making the bay popular for snorkeling and diving. Its visual character comes from the contrast between the intensely blue Caribbean, the island’s dry scrub-covered hills and the simple wooden pier extending over the shallows. From the shoreline, changing water depth creates bands of aqua and deep blue, while the reef and sandy seabed remain visible through the calm, transparent water.
