Playa de Celestún stretches along the Gulf of Mexico beside the fishing town of Celestún, on the western coast of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. Its broad, pale-sand shoreline is marked by shallow water, small fishing boats and simple beachfront structures, reflecting the town’s close ties to the sea. The coast faces west, giving sunset light a central role in the scene, with warm color spreading across the open horizon and wet sand. Nearby, the Celestún Biosphere Reserve protects mangroves, estuaries and important bird habitat; the area’s famous flamingos are associated with these sheltered wetlands rather than the open beach.
