Playa Carrizalillo is a small, crescent-shaped cove on the coast of Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, tucked between rocky headlands and reached by a steep stone stairway from the road above. Its sheltered bay and pale sand create a compact, intimate scene that contrasts with the heavy surf of nearby beaches; waters here are generally calmer, making the bay visually defined by a clean shoreline arc and low rocky outcrops. For photographers the composition is straightforward: the descending steps act as a strong lead-in, cliffs frame the scene, and the curve of the beach produces near-symmetry from an elevated viewpoint. Soft afternoon light skimming the cliffs enhances warm textures in the rock and sand, while small local palapas and swimmers add human scale and color to long-range shots. Access requires the stair descent and return climb; modest facilities sit just above the beach.
