Platja la Barraca
📍 Spain
Platja la Barraca, also known as Cala del Portitxol, is a pebble-and-gravel cove below the Mar Azul residential area in Xàbia (Jávea), on Alicante’s Costa Blanca. Set between Cap Prim and Cap Negre, it faces the rocky Illa del Portitxol, a defining feature of the view out to sea. Whitewashed fishermen’s cottages with blue-painted doors connect the shoreline to the town’s maritime traditions and give the beach its recognizable architectural detail. Their simple façades contrast with rounded beach stones, clear Mediterranean water and pine-covered slopes, while wider views reveal how the cottages sit within the rugged coastline.
