Planet Ocean is the striking spherical exhibition building of Kaliningrad’s Museum of the World Ocean, set on the Pregolya River embankment within a waterfront complex of museum ships and maritime displays. Its globe-like form reflects the museum’s broad focus on the oceans, Earth sciences, exploration and marine life, with exhibitions arranged as themed research laboratories. Visually, the curved glass-and-metal façade stands apart from the long silhouettes of nearby vessels, catching changing skies and river light; wider compositions can place the sphere against the embankment’s cranes, masts and industrial maritime textures.
