📍 France
Plage des Kaolins lies on Ploemeur’s Atlantic shoreline, west of Lorient in southern Brittany. Its name reflects the kaolin deposits that have long marked the surrounding landscape and local industry. The beach combines pale sand, low dunes and dark rocky outcrops, creating strong contrasts when Atlantic surf breaks along the shore. At lower tide, the widened strand emphasizes the sweep of the coast, while changing Breton light brings out muted blues, ochres and greens in the sea, sand and dune vegetation.
