Plage de Bon-Secours
📍 France
Plage de Bon-Secours is the sandy crescent tucked beneath Saint‑Malo’s walled old town (Intra‑Muros), where granite ramparts and church spires meet the English Channel. Its interest is the immediate juxtaposition of late‑medieval and classical stone facades with an expansive intertidal plain: at low tide the beach opens into broad, wet sand that mirrors the ochre and grey skyline, while high tide brings the sea right up to the base of the ramparts. Photographically this yields strong horizontal layers, dramatic reflections, and shifting textures as water recedes; the town’s silhouette reads clearly against sunrise or late light from the sea. Access is direct from the old‑town promenades, and the constant tidal rhythm is the defining element that shapes both composition and mood.
