Place de la Bourse is an iconic spot in Bordeaux and is arguably the city's grandest public space. The 18th century square is a monumental site of neoclassical architecture, with a large basin of water in the center surrounded by 23 statues of kings and a huge Corinthian colonnade. It was built by Count Molé, the Louis XV’s finance minister. On one side of the Place lies the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, while on the other side is the exquisite and dignified Stock Exchange, whose modern façade hides a Rococo interior. The square is framed by rows of spectacular gas lamps on either side, and the beautiful square is attractive both at night and in the day. It's perfect to sit around the magnificent fountain and very pleasant to walk around the place. As soon as you are in place de la bourse you will start to admire the beauty and charm of Bordeaux.
