Plaça d’Espanya is a grand square situated in the Sants-Montjuic area of Barcelona, Spain. First constructed in 1929 for the International Exhibition, the plaza features two massive semicircular buildings and an impressive fountain in the center of a large garden. The iconic Venetian Towers flank the Southern entrance to the plaza, reminiscent of Venice’s Piazzale Roma. Plaça d’Espanya is a lively and vibrant area and home to some of the city’s most spectacular events, such as the 15th of August firework display and Festa Major. It is also the terminal of the city’s famous cable car and is a popular starting point for many sightseeing tours. Enjoy beautiful views of the city, take a leisurely stroll around the sweeping gardens, and explore the historic architecture. Plaça d'Espanya is the ideal spot to bring your camera.
