Plac Solny is a historic market square adjoining the southwestern corner of Wrocław’s Rynek, in the heart of the Old Town. Its name, meaning “Salt Square,” recalls the commodity once traded here and the city’s importance as a medieval commercial center. Today, flower stalls give the square its distinctive character, with masses of bouquets adding vivid color against the surrounding townhouses. Their varied façades and rooflines frame the open space, while the neoclassical Old Stock Exchange on the southern side reflects a later chapter in Wrocław’s trading history. The contrast between the informal flower market and the formal architecture gives photographs a recognizable sense of the square’s everyday life.
