Pizzo della Croce is the cross-marked summit of Monte Scale, rising above Valdidentro and the Cancano basin north of Bormio in upper Valtellina. Its position offers a striking overview of the artificial lakes of Cancano and San Giacomo, whose blue-green water and straight dam lines contrast with the pale, rugged mountain slopes. The Torri di Fraele, winding access road and layered peaks toward the Ortles-Cevedale group add depth to the panorama. From the summit, the cross provides a strong foreground element, while changing cloud shadows emphasize the scale and texture of the surrounding high-alpine landscape.
