Pisseuses of Valaine
📍 From Pointe de la Courtine, France
The Pisseuses of Valaine and Pointe de La Courtine, in Étretat, France, are rock formations of the Cliffs of Étretat that make up a striking back-lit 'contre-jour' effect, with sun setting in the distance. These awe-inspiring cliffs are classified as Monument Historique with spectacular views that draw in photographers and tourists alike. With ochre and golden-colored rocks, these cliffs vary in shape, texture, and size. The 'two sisters' are aptly named, being the two tallest formations of the cliffs. To access the area one can seek out the Petit Valaine beach. The beach is surrounded by a small forest of bushes and trees and is usually quite isolated, all of which add to the peaceful atmosphere of the Normandy coast.
