Pismo Beach Pier is a 1,200-foot-long pier located at the heart of Pismo Beach, California. Built in 1928, the pier is the longest public pier on the West Coast and provides breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Visitors to the pier can take in the stunning scenery, shorebirds like terns, pelicans, and cormorants, and schools of small bait fish. Fishing is popular year-round for perch, surfperch, yellowfin croaker, and several species of sharks. There is also a wider variety of fish to be caught further out from the end of the pier. To the east of the pier, at the base of a sand dune, is an unofficial surf spot known by locals as “Pismo Point”. Visitors can take in the sights and sounds of the beach, take a stroll down the pier, or simply relax on the sand. There is even an ice cream parlor at the base of the pier! Pismo Beach Pier is a great way to take in the beauty of the California coast.
