Piopolis Lighthouse, located in Piopolis, Canada, is a spectacular and unique lighthouse. Sitting atop a dried out, rocky bluff overlooking the Magdalen Islands, it is one of the most photographed lighthouses in Canada and is one of the loveliest sights in the region. Constructed in the late 1800s of white, wooden boards with an aluminum coating, it stands some thirty-five metres tall and shines brightly over the sea at night. It serves many vessels heading in and out of Passamaquoddy Bay as a beacon, warning them of the rocky cliffs to the North and the many sandbars to the South. During the day time, the dazzling white of the lighthouse is a spectacular sight, setting it apart from the breathtaking blues and greens of the sea around it. Its unparalleled location, perched atop a rocky bluff, makes it a breathtaking sight for travelers and photographers alike.
