📍 From 3rd Avenue, United States
Established in 1907, Pike Place Market is Seattle’s historic public market on the hillside above Elliott Bay, at the western edge of downtown. Created to let farmers sell directly to shoppers, it remains a working marketplace of produce stands, flower sellers, seafood counters, craftspeople, and small businesses. The red “Public Market Center” neon sign and clock at Pike Street form its most recognizable street view, framing the bustle of shoppers and deliveries beneath the covered arcade. Inside, bright bouquets, fish displayed on ice, and handwritten stall signs give the scene its distinctive colors and textures; at Pike Place Fish, fishmongers’ theatrical tosses add movement to the everyday trade. Stairways lead into lower levels of shops, revealing the market’s layered architecture, while openings toward the bay place this dense urban scene against Seattle’s maritime setting.
