Piazzetta Santa Chiara is a small square tucked into Lecce’s centro storico, sited beside the Church and former convent of Santa Chiara and surrounded by dense clusters of Baroque façades carved from the region’s warm pietra leccese. The intimate scale and close-built streets emphasize carved portals, cornices and religious reliefs so textures read strongly in raking light; framed sightlines through the piazzetta lead the eye to a decorated church portal and to narrow alleys beyond. Photographically, the spot rewards low, side light that deepens shadow and reveals the honeyed stone’s patina and fine sculptural detail.
