Piazza San Marco, or the St. Mark's Square, is one of the most famous attractions of Venice, Italy. Located in the San Marco sestiere of the Venetian lagoon, it's an iconic meeting point of the iconic gondolas and serenading musicians. It's bordered by grand amusement centers such as the Doge's Palace, the medieval Clock Tower, St. Mark's Basilica and the Grand Canal. Besides its historical importance, the Piazza brings together the perfect highlights of Venetian architecture, surrounded by a multitude of cafes, shops and restaurants. What makes this location truly mesmerizing is the abundance of birds around it, which live off the scraps of food thrown by tourists. From sunset to late night, the Piazza's views are quite remarkable and make for incredible photo-ops. Whether it's a stranger you met on your travels, a child feeding the birds, or a gondolar passing over the square.
