Piazza della Collegiata is the principal square of Lucignano, the compact hilltown in Tuscany’s Valdichiana, centered around the town’s Collegiate church. The piazza occupies the crest of Lucignano’s elongated medieval plan, so narrow, converging streets and closely packed stone buildings frame the space and give photographs a strong sense of scale and perspective. Architectural textures—weathered stone, terracotta roofs and medieval façades—provide warm tonal contrasts, while the square’s edges open to distant valley views that compress town and landscape into layered compositions. The church and surrounding civic buildings provide vertical anchors for symmetrical or diagonal framing; the square functions as a living, easily accessible public space.
