Phra Stup Chedi Wat Ched Yot, located in Chiang Mai, Thailand, is a fascinating temple complex that holds great historical and architectural significance. Built in 1455 during the reign of King Tilokarat of the Lanna Kingdom, it served as a venue for the Eighth World Buddhist Council in 1477. This temple is unique for its architectural style, which is influenced by Indian design, particularly the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya, India. The name "Ched Yot" translates to "seven spires," referring to the seven chedis that crown the main temple structure, symbolizing the seven weeks Buddha spent meditating under the Bodhi tree.

The temple complex is adorned with intricate stucco reliefs and sculptures depicting celestial beings and mythological creatures, showcasing the artistic prowess of the Lanna artisans. It is a serene and less-touristed site, offering a peaceful retreat for visitors. The temple grounds are also home to a sacred Bodhi tree, believed to be a descendant of the original tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment. Visitors can enjoy the tranquil atmosphere and explore the various structures, including the viharn (assembly hall) and ubosot (ordination hall), making it a must-visit for those interested in history, architecture, and spirituality.
