📍 From Chapeau de Napoléon - Grotte de Saint-Antoine, France
The Phare de la Madonetta is a breathtakingly beautiful lighthouse located in Bonifacio, France, at the southernmost tip of the island of Corsica. It stands as an iconic symbol, as it overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and channels between Italy and France. As the primary guide for vessels navigating through the channel, the lighthouse is unique in its architecture and beauty. The Phare de la Madonetta stands atop a cliff, standing tall with three distinct levels. The second and third levels are both constructed from terracotta, creating a warm and inviting feel. Be sure to catch a glimpse of the old-fashioned lantern mounted atop, that was lit with oil until the lighthouse was converted to electric lighting in 1955. Be sure to check out the view from the platform. It’s one of the most unique views in all of Bonifacio, and will have you soaking in the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea to the full extent.
