Located along the coast of Big Sur, California, Pfeiffer Beach is renowned for its beautiful purple sand, formed by the erosion of manganese garnet crystals. Its picturesque and secluded cove has a truly unique landscape, a picturesque and secluded cove, with vast sand dunes, towering sea cliffs and of course the famous purple sand. Swimming is a popular activity there, but it is recommended to be alert of the strong undertow. If possible, arrive early in the morning or late evening, to catch good light and avoid the afternoon crowd. The beach is usually open from sunrise to sunset.
