Pelican Beach is a small, sheltered strip of sand on the Broadwater side of Main Beach on the Gold Coast, distinct from the ocean-facing surf beach a short distance east. Its character comes from calm water, passing boats and the urban backdrop across the Broadwater rather than breaking waves. At low tide, more of the gently shelving foreshore is revealed, while still conditions bring soft reflections; pelicans and other waterbirds often add movement and scale to the scene.
