Pedra Azul is a granite-and-gneiss massif in the mountain district of Domingos Martins, in Espírito Santo’s interior, and the landmark at the heart of Pedra Azul State Park. Its name, meaning “Blue Stone,” refers to the bluish cast created by lichens on the rock surface, whose appearance shifts with changing light. Beside the main dome, Pedra do Lagarto resembles a giant lizard climbing the rock, giving the formation its unmistakable profile. Atlantic Forest surrounds the exposed stone, creating a strong contrast between the rounded, pale rock faces and densely wooded slopes. Views along the Rota do Lagarto, the scenic road around the area, place this monumental silhouette within a landscape of forest, farms, and mountain hospitality rather than isolating it as a geological feature.
