The Passerelle des Juifs is a narrow pedestrian footbridge spanning the Ill River in central Strasbourg, linking the banks at the edge of the Grande Île and the Petite France district. Visually it excels as a compositional frame: from the bridge you get tight vistas of the half-timbered façades that line the canal, crisp reflections in calm water, and a sequence of locks and quays that create strong leading lines. Its low, intimate vantage emphasizes texture and scale—timber, slate roofs and canal stone—and at dusk the lights along the quays provide warm contrast against the cool river surface. The bridge is for pedestrians only, making it easy to pause for composed shots without traffic.
