Passerella Crespi d'Adda is a stunning brick bridge located in Capriate San Gervasio, Italy. Built over the Adda River in 1880, this historic landmark is one of the most celebrated reminders of Italy’s industrial past. The bridge, which sits at an impressive 17 meters (56 ft) tall, is a sturdily built single-arched scale with a heavy balustrade along its length. The sides of the bridge were deeply inset and can be accessed via a stairway off the buttress. On the bank, stone columns flank the bridge, making the bridge look even more monumental. The bridge’s brickwork is so well preserved that it still looks pristine after over 100 years. You wouldn’t expect to see a structure from the 19th century look quite so majestic; the bridge is a testament to the greatness of Italian engineering capabilities.
