📍 From Fort Napoléon des Saintes, Guadeloupe
Passe de la Baleine and Fort Napoléon des Saintes are two historic sites located in Terre-de-Haut, in the islands of Guadaloupe, in the French Caribbean. Visiting them provides a grand view of the Caribbean Sea and great opportunities for nature photography.

Passe de la Baleine is a natural seam between the beach of Anse à la Barque and the beach of Madame. It is a great spot for snorkeling and scuba diving as the waters’ depths are easily accessible. Visitors will be able to explore the shallows and observe many tropical fishes and sea turtles. Fort Napoléon des Saintes, located at the highest point of Terre-de-Haut with a spectacular view of the Caribbean Sea, was erected by Napoléon Bonaparte in 1867. The fort is made of limestone blocks and its walls are covered with beautiful ivy. On the exterior, visitors can stroll around the perimeter of the stronghold and enjoy the 360° view of the Terre-de-Haut islands. Inside the fort, the historical museum provides a better understanding of the fort’s history.
