📍 From Mokhovaya Street, Russia
Pashkov House is an impressive 18th-century structure standing in Kremlin upper gardens on a hill overlooking the Moskva River. Built from 1784 to 1786 by Matvej Kazakov, a neoclassic architecture master, it has a symmetrical white façade with a portico, surrounded by a grand stairway, with a grand Ionic column in front and a double-headed eagle atop. Inside, the palace is divided in three connected rooms, and has a monumental ballroom with a 45m-high ceiling and painted plaster decorations by Giacomo Quarenghi. Since 1811, it houses the Rumyantsev Museum and it also has served as a venue for state receptions. It still hosts presidential receptions from modern day Russian presidents.
