This beautiful basilica is situated in Centro, Mexico. The Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción is a stunning example of Mexican Baroque architecture and a symbol of Mexican faith and culture. It was built in 1747 by the priests of the Order of Preachers, also known as the Dominicans. It was declared a national monument in 1933. Its striking yellow exterior and elaborate Baroque facade make it a standout among Mexico City’s many churches. Inside, visitors will find numerous original furnishings and religious artifacts along with a glimmering chandelier. Adorning the walls are intricate frescoes and sculptures of Jesus, Mary, and the Saints. Admire colorful stained-glass windows and an ornate wooden altarpiece.
