Parque Villa Lobos is one of the largest urban parks in São Paulo and is a popular destination for locals, tourists, and photographers alike. The park covers a 65 hectare area of mixed terrain, and is broken up into several sections, each with its own trails, gardens and sculptures. A must-see is the 7-meter steel sculpture of the composer Heitor Villa-Lobos, who was born in São Paulo and is regarded as the preeminent figure of Brazilian classical music. Surrounding the sculpture are lush gardens, featuring a variety of native plants, and winding paths that can take visitors to a variety of different points within the park. Other attractions include the lake, the Natural Science Museum, the resident population of capybaras, and the Lookout of the Sky Observatory. Visitors can also take advantage of the several outdoor gym and sports facilities and outdoor movies in the summertime.
