Parque e Palácio Nacional da Pena and Castelo dos Mouros situated in the town of Sintra, Portugal are considered as the country’s most stunning landmarks. Declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Palace of Pena is a stunning 19th-Century Romanticist palace situated in the Sintra Mountains and overlooks the town of Sintra and Lisbon in the distance. The National Palace of Pena Park spreads around the palace and encompasses an area of more than 200 hectares, featuring some of the finest gardens, grottos and fountains. On the other side of town, the Castle of the Moors stands imposingly on a hilltop and its history goes back to 8th century when it was built by the Moors. The castle is said to be connected to the Palace of Pena by an underground passageway. Both the monuments are definitely a must-visit while in Sintra and are sure to leave you in awe of its beauty.
