Situated on the western hills of the Sierra de Leire mountains in the Navarra region of Spain, the Parador de Turismo de Olite is a castle hotel with a rich historical tapestry. The building of the old castle and the 7 towers that adorn it date back to the 14th century, having been erected when King Carlos III of Navarra resided in Olite. It was converted into a luxurious hotel in the 20th century. Its facade of simple brickwork is accentuated by its addition of the Renaissance style window frames and an octagonal tower. Its interior offers is worth exploring with its mix of 15th century frescoes, wooden and ceramic floors, Gothic-style galleries and stately great hall. Olite is home to more than just the hotel, as it is a picturesque medieval walled city with narrow cobbled streets, ancient walls, a 14th century palace and other stately buildings. The city’s atmosphere is vibrant, filled with gastronomical marvels, wineries, and historical monuments. This is definitely the place to visit if you want to take a step back in time!
