It was built in 1725-1732 as an extension of the palace complex and was a popular spot for royal festivities. The two main marble fountains, surrounded by 16 smaller ones, were carved by Johann Bergl, and are modeled after Roman aqueducts. On special occasions the jets topped with drinking cups can be filled with wine and small cakes. The tallest of them reaching up to 8m high. At the foot of the palace is a large open space perfect to admire the fountains, Grand Fountain and Gloriette, as the grand finale of a wonderful day out in Vienna.
