Palazzo Salimbeni is a historic building in the heart of Siena, Italy. It was constructed in the late 14th century as the seat of the powerful Salimbeni banking family. Since 1866, the building has housed the Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) bank. Although much of the original decor has been removed, many of the original family's coats of arms still decorate the palace. Visitors can observe the fountain in the main courtyard, the frescoes in the upper hall and a Baroque-style chapel with a covered porch. Additionally, the palace has a manuscript room and a library of books and documents that are over 500 years old. Palazzo Salimbeni is still home to the MPS bank and is not open to the public; however, visitors may still admire its stunningly preserved facade from the street.
