Palazzo Pubblico is one of the oldest and grandest buildings in Siena, Italy. This impressive structure was built starting in 1297 and was completed in 1310. It was originally built as a civic hall for the ruling parliament. This huge building has almost 200 beautiful decorated rooms and is the symbol of Siena's independence. Its two towers are easily visible from nearly any point in the city. It's the location of the famous bi-annual Palio di Siena horse race, which is held in the large square in front of the palace. It's also home to works by many famous Italian artists, like Ambrogio Lorenzetti and Simone Martini. It is definitely a must-see when visiting Siena.
