Palazzo del Seminario is the stately seminary palace that helps frame Lecce’s Piazza Duomo, sitting directly beside the cathedral and contributing to the compact, enclosed feel of the cathedral square. Its façades are executed in warm pietra leccese and display the local Baroque vocabulary: dense, sculptural ornament, carved balconies, pilasters and richly modeled cornices that throw bold shadows and invite close study. Photographers will find rewarding contrasts between detailed reliefs and the smooth planar surfaces of the square, opportunities for intimate texture shots of chiseled stone, and wider compositions that capture the palace as part of the symmetrical ensemble encircling the piazza; late-afternoon light deepens the stone’s honey tones and enhances three-dimensional detail.
