The Palazzo Arcivescovile di Fermo is the historic seat of the Archdiocese of Fermo, standing beside the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in the ecclesiastical precinct on Girfalco hill. Its restrained brick architecture reflects the sober civic and religious character of this high part of the city, where medieval and later buildings gather around broad paved spaces. In photographs, the palace gains context from its relationship with the cathedral and from the elevated setting above Fermo’s dense terracotta rooftops and the rolling countryside of the Marche.
